Haiti needs more than relief

Relief efforts are tremendous but the magnitude of the devastation is unfathomable and it might take long until everything is back into places and the Haitians back on their feet.

The aftermath of the quake and the long-term effect in general is actually much worse than the actual devastation during the onslaught of that deadly earthquake. Health and psychological welfare of the people were extremely compromised. Thus, medical and psychological attention is extremely needed.

It’s sad to think that while the rest of the northern hemisphere is highly industrialized there’s this country that tend to resist technology (but in a very incorrect manner) became the victim of such apocalyptic disaster.

Natural as it seems, that quake that claimed an unprecedented toll seem to be man-made.  It’s too late to argue about that thing right now (the real cause of the countless deaths) but I guess it’s a very good start for us to educate and help the Haitians build safer and stronger homes and structures. It’s about time that modern technology specially in building homes and other structures reaches their shores.

There is hope for Haiti just like there is elsewhere.
